Hard work in headwinds - a few words about the industry's heroes

Eleven months and a good sixteen days into the challenging year of 2020, most of us alternate between perfectly reasonable complaining and resolute optimism. In this blog post, we will try to do neither. Instead, we intend to devote a few lines to a genuine and true source of inspiration and appreciation. Namely, the great heroes of the event and meetings industry.

Heroes -- powerful and fully justified

We are talking about the hotels, restaurants, conference venues, ski resorts, and all the others who fall within what we commonly describe as "the suppliers." All of you who have the tough task of making meetings between people possible, in new creative ways, at a time when the most established truth is that we should avoid each other.

First and foremost, we want to emphasize that "heroes" is a strong expression that should be used with some caution. Having said that, we affirm that the expression fits remarkably well in this particular context. Countless players in countless industries have over the past year talked about pivoting rather than shutting down. Despite the nearly impossible task of adapting to the situation, you, the "suppliers," constantly demonstrate new ideas and initiatives that enable joyful, productive, and infection-safe gatherings. We humans have a need to meet each other that grows at the same pace as the opportunities diminish. The fact that there is a large group of people who go to work every day with the goal of making it possible for us to meet in the best way allowed is invaluable in this situation.

Of great importance -- now and going forward

Furthermore, there is reason to believe that the Corona crisis is just the starting shot for what is expected to become the era of working from home. Your creativity and its contribution to good cohesion and the feeling of community is of great importance now and will continue to be so long after the crisis has subsided.
